Movie deal in the works for Watseka Wonder story

The plans for making a movie about the Watseka Wonder story are in development.

According to information provided by Scott Anderson of Watseka, who has been in touch with one of the filmmakers, Christopher Saint Booth, a title has not been selected, but the Booth Brothers are expecting to have one soon.

Booth did have some comments about the movie, which he shared with Anderson in a press release.

"Although it is still very, very early in this process, we are excited," he said. "We have been working on this for a while, and feel very passionate about sharing the story. We just want it told right. We don't make slasher movies.

"When we were in Watseka filming for the upcoming horror-documentary Children of the Grave for the Sci-Fi Channel, we fell in love with your town," Booth said. "The fact the houses are still there adds to the credibility of the story we are trying to tell. We would love to film a movie in Watseka, but it is still way too early to know for sure. We just got the greenlight for the development stage. But that alone is very exciting and promising. We will be talking with Sony Pictures and Ghost House (Grudge) about the final casting."

This story appears in the April 20 edition of the Times-Republic
